How this Mistfall Hunter tier list works

This Mistfall Hunter tier list ranks all six Gyldhunter classes — Mercenary, Sorcerer, Blackarrow, Shadowstrix, Seer, and Withered Knight — based on Open Beta PvP performance across solo queue and trio co-op. Class value shifts dramatically depending on team size, so rankings are split between the two modes.

Each class has two weapon stances that function as separate archetypes. A Mercenary with sword and shield plays nothing like a Mercenary with a war-hammer, and a Seer in Reverent stance has almost nothing in common with a Blasphemer Seer. This tier list evaluates each stance independently where the difference is significant enough to change a class ranking.

The Open Beta combat flow rewards classes that can iframe attacks and punish recovery frames. Ranged classes with fast projectiles dominate solo encounters because evades are a separate resource from attacks — melee classes with slow, telegraphed swings risk being kited indefinitely. Trio fights change the math: focus fire and support healing compress time-to-kill, making AoE and crowd control more valuable than dueling tools.

Balance patches during Open Beta can shift rankings between weeks. This tier list reflects the most recent tested build — revisit after each patch for updated rankings. For class basics and mechanics, see the beginner guide for a full breakdown of all six Gyldhunters and their stances.

Mistfall Hunter tier list — solo PvP rankings

Mistfall Hunter solo tier list — classes ranked by 1v1 PvP effectiveness.

TierClass — StanceStrengthsWeaknesses
SSBlackarrowParalyzing and barbed arrows lock down targets; best projectiles and iframe controlLow survivability if caught in melee without escape tools
SShadowstrixHighest melee DPS; can attack while evading; unmatched mobility to pick and leave fightsStruggles if crowd controlled during engage; requires stealth setup
SSorcerer — ElementalFast burst with burn; strong resource sustain; easy to play with high rewardShort effective range compared to Blackarrow; weaker in extended chases
SSeer — ReverentStrong self-sustain through heals and shields; Death Ward avoids death temporarilyCannot chase or escape well; weaker in open 1v1 without totem setup
AMercenary — Sword & ShieldVery strong versus all melee classes; 100% block builds absorb damageStruggles against ranged classes that kite; low damage output
BSeer — BlasphemerThorns damage and wall-pull combo can kill if opponents do not dodgeAll attacks telegraphed; 5x longer cooldowns than previous beta; no chase
BWithered KnightParry-focused greatsword with super armor; decent in skilled handsSuffers same telegraph problem as slow melee; outclassed by S-tier picks
BSorcerer — StardustRanged identity keeps it above pure melee; solid AoE coverageCannot escape anything; low single-target damage; kited easily in 1v1
CMercenary — HammerStomps inexperienced players with raw damageSlow and telegraphed attacks; punished hard by any ranged class that iframes

Mistfall Hunter solo tier list — class-by-class breakdown

Blackarrow occupies the SS tier alone for solo PvP. The combination of paralyzing arrow — an AoE paralysis that prevents targets from attacking — and barbed arrow, which punishes evades with stuns and heavy damage, creates a two-arrow solution. Land both on an opponent and they cannot evade, cannot attack, and take fatal damage if they try to escape. No other class has a comparable lockdown toolset in 1v1 encounters.

Shadowstrix sits at the top of S tier because it breaks the rules that hold other melee classes back. While Hammer Mercenary and Withered Knight get kited and punished during recovery frames, Shadowstrix can attack while evading, match opponent evades, and maintain pressure without committing extra resources. The stealth burst from the dagger stance opens fights with enormous burst damage, and dual blades provide utility through Crow's Storm for energy drain and Smoke Bomb for disengage. If a fight goes bad, no class can catch a Shadowstrix — the mobility is unmatched.

Elemental Sorcerer earns S tier largely because of stamina and energy sustain. Elemental spells cast with minimal energy cost, letting the Sorcerer maintain constant offensive pressure without the downtime that other classes face. Thunder Strike applies lightning that staggers and drains enemy energy, Crystal Icebolt autotargets nearby enemies, and Deep Freeze creates AoE frost damage around the caster. The low skill floor combined with high damage output means Elemental Sorcerer wins more fights by default. Stardust Sorcerer, by contrast, sits much lower because its single-target damage is weak and it lacks mobility tools to reposition.

Reverent Seer is surprisingly strong in solo play thanks to self-healing, shield totems, and Death Ward that prevents death for a short window. The class cannot chase opponents who disengage and struggles to force fights on its own terms, but the sustain tools make it a frustrating matchup for classes that rely on burst. Blasphemer Seer has the opposite problem — wall-pull into thorns is devastating when it lands, but the cooldowns are punishingly long and all attacks are heavily telegraphed.

Sword and Shield Mercenary is A tier because it dominates every other melee class in the roster. With 100% block builds using Bullwark and Stoic affixes, Mercenary absorbs damage that would destroy other classes. The weakness is ranged opponents — Blackarrow and Sorcerer kite indefinitely by iframing slow sword swings and punishing during recovery. Hammer Mercenary drops to C tier because the slow, telegraphed attacks are easily punished in a meta where exhaustion no longer limits evade usage.

Withered Knight is not technically bad — the greatsword parry kit and super armor are genuine tools — but the class suffers the same fundamental problem as other slow melee: iframe one gap closer and the Knight cannot close distance. In a meta dominated by ranged classes and mobile rogues, Withered Knight struggles to land hits consistently enough to justify picking it over S-tier alternatives.

Mistfall Hunter trio tier list — class breakdown

Blackarrow remains SS tier in trios for the same reason it dominates solo: the paralyzing and barbed arrow combination instantly removes a player from a fight. In a 3v3 context, a clean two-arrow hit turns the engagement into a 3v2 before anyone else has time to react.

Stardust Sorcerer jumps significantly in trio value. Where the stance struggles in solo due to weak single-target damage and no escape tools, trio fights let it shine through AoE zone control. Stardust attacks cover wide areas, forcing opponents to either eat damage or burn evades, which a coordinated team can exploit with follow-up crowd control. Elemental Sorcerer stays relevant in trios through fast burst pressure, picking off weakened targets while Blackarrow controls the engagement pace.

Reverent Seer is arguably the most important class in trio composition. Totem healing and damage reduction scale directly with team size, and the ability to shield an ally through enemy burst windows makes Seer an essential pick for any coordinated squad. Shadowstrix drops slightly to A tier because trio fights punish melee engage — the moment a Shadowstrix commits to a target, the enemy team can focus fire and control the rogue before it disengages. The value comes from flanking and deleting a support or backline player before the enemy team can respond.

Hammer Mercenary becomes A tier in trios because the super armor and AoE crowd control provide frontline pressure that shields teammates. The telegraph problem is less punishing when the Mercenary has allies applying pressure from range. Withered Knight stays at C tier because even in trios, the slow attacks cannot consistently connect against opponents who are playing around iframes.

Best trio composition in Mistfall Hunter

The highest-performing trio composition in Open Beta pairs Blackarrow with Stardust Sorcerer and Reverent Seer. Blackarrow controls range and locks down priority targets with the two-arrow combination. Stardust Sorcerer zones the enemy team with AoE damage while the Seer sustains through any engages the enemy attempts. If a third player picks outside this comp, Elemental Sorcerer or Shadowstrix as a flex slot for burst damage serves as a strong alternative.

For players who prefer a frontline-heavy approach, Hammer Mercenary replaces Stardust Sorcerer in the comp above. The Mercenary engages with super armor and AoE crowd control while Blackarrow and Seer provide damage and sustain from behind the frontline. This composition trades zone damage for durability and is easier to execute in uncoordinated teams.

Best affixes for each tier — Mistfall Hunter affix priorities

Affix selection can shift a class up a full tier. The most impactful affixes for PvP performance are consistent across most class archetypes:

Seeker provides movement speed on hit, which is essential for both chasing down opponents and creating distance against melee classes. Valor increases attack damage across all weapon types. Aegis and Bullwark are the best defensive affixes — Aegis reduces incoming damage globally, while Bullwark specifically increases block rate for classes that can block. Stoic adds resist when below 50% health and heals at 30%, effectively giving most classes a second health bar.

For damage-focused builds, Wrath increases damage output below 50% health and pairs well with Stoic for an aggressive low-health playstyle. Fervor provides stacking physical damage ramp-up for classes like Mercenary and Blackarrow. Sky Piercer boosts jump-cast damage and specifically benefits Sorcerer and Seer. Vitality increases maximum energy, which translates directly into more casts and evades. Elusive reduces dodge energy cost and is particularly valuable on Shadowstrix and other mobile classes that rely on frequent iframes to stay alive.

The order of affix priority depends on class and stance. Melee classes generally priortize Bullwark and Seeker first, then Valor or Wrath for damage. Ranged classes open with Valor and Seeker, then Sky Piercer for burst or Aegis for survivability. Check the multiplayer guide for squad composition tips.
